Meet Jevita

Author - Word Wrangler - Wonder Collector

Jevita Nilson is an Australian children’s author who is passionate about creating meaningful and uplifting stories that encourage young children to embrace their imaginations and explore the world around them.

Inspired by a love of nature, words, and all things wondrous, Jevita began writing for children in 2018.

Her debut picture book, Happy Hearts, was published by New Holland Publishers in 2020 and she has two non-fiction picture books published by CSIRO Publishing, Our World Full of Wonder (2024) and Our World of Wild Wonders (2025).

Jevita writes lyrical fiction and non-fiction picture books that weave together nature, family, emotions, and the eternal joys of childhood. She also writes fun, rhyming picture books and chapter books for young readers.

When she’s not creating children’s books, Jevita works as an Organisational Development Consultant, using her degrees in Psychology and Human Resource Management. She lives with her husband and two kids in Perth, just a stones throw from the glorious Indian Ocean.

She is an active member of SCBWI, the Australian Society of Authors, and the Children’s Book Council of Australia and regularly attends writing conferences and kid-lit events.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I live and create, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation. I pay my respects to their Elders and acknowledge their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this region.
