3 Lessons From My 33rd Spin Around the Sun

A lot of people seem to reach a point in their lives where their birthday brings more dread than excitement. Another year old? Can we still pretend I'm 25?? Surely I haven't aged at all since then!

For me, there is the added dread of having to spend my birthday without my mum. It's hard to celebrate another year lived, when the most influential person in your life is not there to celebrate with you.

But you know what, I'm actually excited about turning 33!! I've learned recently that 33 is a master number in numerology and the number 3 represents creativity, self-expression and the manifestation of creative talents. When a number is repeated, as in 33, it's power is multiplied! Heck yes - I'll take that! Happy birthday to me!

I have a feeling that being 33 is going to bring truckloads of positive things into my life and I'm looking forward to the exciting projects on the horizon.

But being 32 hasn't been the smoothest of rides. The past year has been full of lessons - the universe has given me a bit of tough love, but I'm emerging a wiser and more resilient person. No flower grows without rain.

So today, on my 33rd birthday, I thought I'd share with you 3 powerful lessons I've learnt during my 33rd revolution around the sun:

1. When your world crumbles and all you are left with is rubble and ruins, you have two choices. You can choose to sit amongst the rubble, crushed and defeated, or you can choose to build a castle from the pieces left behind.

This year I'm building my castle!

2. You are already everything you hope to achieve. You don't need to become someone different, or change who you are. Everything you are meant to be is already right there within you. All that is holding you back from your true potential are the negative beliefs you hold about yourself and the world around you.

This year I'm focusing on shifting my negative beliefs so I can discover who I'm meant to be.

3. You cannot spend your whole life only believing in what you can see right in front of you, or what you have previously experienced in your life. To reach your potential in life you must learn to have faith in the unknown, the unseen, believing in the infinite possibilities available to you. Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark (Rabindranath Tagore).

This year I'm discovering my faith.
